how do you tune a guitar using a pitch pipe?!?

okay well i dont know how to tune my guitar using a pitch pipe..i know that i just have to blow into it and tune it to the right pitch..but then my guitar doesnt sound like the pitch pipe AT All..they'r completely different..please help me out here..

You must be doing something wrong. The strings on a guitar are E, A, D, G, B, E so look on the pitch pipe for the low E... blow in that pipe and then tune the bottom E so it's in resonance with the pipe.. you have to be able to tell the difference of ONE CYCLE PER SECOND.. that's ONE HERTZ so you can tell when you have it right... then you can either repeat it for all the other keys OR, once you have the LOW E tuned... then you tune the next string up, the A string, by pressing the 5TH FRET on the low E and tuning the A string until it's the same frequency.

I really is BEST if you just pop for a TUNER for about $15 or $20... it's just a whole lot simpler and you won't break strings or damage the guitar by over tightening like most beginners do.
