Off-Road Racing With Gas Powered RC Trucks Can Be About As Close To The Real Thing As You Can Get
A favorite pastime of many children (as well as the young at heart) is the activity of racing their remote control trucks. Many people, young and old, take great pleasure in making their trucks do tricks and stunts. Racing doesn't have to be simply about who gets to the finish line the fastest. You can have competitions to see who's truck can climb the steepest hill or perform the best on off-road trails. The thought of gas powered RC trucks may put some people off, especially these days, with gas prices being the way they are. But these trucks are not actually run on the same kind of gas you put in the car you drive to work everyday.
Most RC cars are run with the use of a battery pack. The higher the volt on the battery, the more power the vehicle will typically have. A gas powered car is actually fueled by a mixture of alcohol, oil and nitro-methane. The gears are still operated by battery, so there will still be some charging involved but not nearly as much.
The main difference between the battery operated vehicles and the gas powered ones is speed. Some Nitro (gas powered) vehicles are capable of reaching speeds of over seventy five miles per hour. This can be a truly awe inspiring event to witness.
Another advantage to the Nitro vehicle is that you don't have to stop the fun to wait for the battery to recharge. All you have to do is fill up the tank and resume your activities. Controlling the vehicle may be slightly more difficult than controlling electric ones and they may not maintain their speed as well as electric cars, but if you're planning on doing a lot of outdoor racing, the benefits of having a Nitro vehicle greatly outweigh the disadvantages.
The engines in Nitro cars are actual working engines, which means they will require more maintenance than electric motors. This can create a sense of actually owning a real working version of the truck you may drive in real life.
If you find no greater joy than working on full sized trucks in your spare time, you may find working on the smaller versions to be even more enjoyable. They may be scaled down quite a bit, but this makes them much easier to work on and tweak to perfection.
They may be a bit messy because they are powered by actual fuel, but if you're careful it shouldn't be too much of a problem. And if you're worried about the smell, there are additives available that can give your truck's exhaust the smell of cherry, cotton candy or bubble gum. You might be able to make them smell good, but there may not be a whole lot you can do to make them silent. Because of this, it may be best to keep the racing tracks outside.
Most people tend to go with electric RC cars because they are easier to operate and care for. If you want to blow most of the competition out of the water, opting for gas powered RC trucks is a pretty sure way to impress all those who join you in your love of this hobby.

Why won't my new nitro rc truck start?
I just bought a new RedCat Nitro Volvano T2 3.0cc truck and i charged my brand new glow plug for 5 hours. It started 3 times for around 3 seconds and then stoped. Now it won't start at all.I tested the glow plug and it works. The engine is not flooded and there are no air bubbles in the fuel lines. Any ideas.
Move the trim next to the throttle to give you more throttle. Be careful though, if it starts it might move away. Or you could adjust the idle screw, 1/4 turn anti clockwise should be enough.
New engines can be quite annoying the first time you try to start them, so don't worry too much.
