Would I be able to mate a Rover 3.5l v8 to a Porsche 968 transmission?
I'm considering building a kit car, specifically a Ferrari 355 GTS, based off of a stretched Pontiac Fiero chassis. A lot of work will be going into prepping the underpinnings of the car, and I'm wondering if I would be able to mate said engine and transmission in a Fiero with only a 2.75 inch stretch to the engine bay? Or should I just keep saving for the real deal. I've always enjoyed wrenching so it's nothing to me. Please help gurus and assorted people of the internet.
Honestly, you should go with the 3800SC engine/4t65e-hd trans, for ease of installation. This is a very popular engine swap for fieros, and requires the least amount of modification.
This engine puts out 240HP/280TQ stock, and with less than $1000 in mods, you can be well into the mid 300s.
This is the engine swap I am going with, and it is just about ready. All I have left to do is put the tank back in, bolt on the heater pipes, and connect the Trans cooler lines.
