I currently have typhlosion (46) scyther (32) and nidoking (39) the rest are HM slaves,, i clearly got owned by the elite 4

now you're telling me u killed Red Gyrados and Ho-oh?
If you really didn't catch them then i suggest u get :
- Hitmonlee (level up from Tyrogue at lvl 20)
- Lapras (union cave)
- Rhydon (level up from Rhyhorn at lvl 42 )
So you get Tyrogue in Mt.Mortar and Lapras in Union Cave and Rhyhorn in Victory Road
So you level up a tyrogue at lvl 20 with attack higher than defense. level him till around 40-45 and have Double kick.
Get lapras in Union Cave but lapras only appear every friday. have lapras learn Surf and ice beam
Have Rhyhorn level up to 42 and learn earthquake & hyperbeam if you can.
Now your final team should look like this:
Typhlosion- lvl 50 with fire blast ( TM38 )
Scyther - lvl 40 with wing attack (level up ) and slash (level 36 )
Nidoking - lvl 40 with iron tail (TM23)
Lapras - lvl 45 with ice beam (level up ) and surf
Rhydon - lvl 45 with horn drill (level 37) hyperbeam (TM15) and earthquake (TM26)
