Speakers making a hissing noise?
I have a 4000 watt class D monoblock amp by Pyle and when i hook my two 18's into it i get a very annoying hiss coming from the subs, I know that it has nothing to do with the rca and power cable because when i unhook the cable the noise is still there. I have 0 gauge ground and power cables and my ground wire is bolted to the chassis under the rear seat. Does anyone know what else could be the problem?
What you don't say is what radio is feeding your amp. Lower end radios have noisier preamplifiers and that noise is passed along to your big amp and out your speakers.
Also Class D amplifiers are inherently noisier and have more distortion because of the way they work, and they require filters to remove the noise.
A Class B or Class AB amplifier is better for higher power audio if clarity is what you're after.
