Terrible noise when turning..WINDSTAR OWNERS!?

On my 2001 Ford Windstar Lx..when i turn at low speeds ..the car makes a terrible sound (what sounds like an old wooden boat creaking) and clunks..i've been told it could be the cv joints..but now i hear it could be the struts..stabilizer bar..and a whole number of things..every mechanic i take the car to is not sure..and i don't want to spend thousands of dollars worth of stuff on this car that i dont have to fix the problem.. i've been told the engine mounts are bad..could this be the cause?

Windstar outer tie rod ends tend to creak when turing as they start to wear out. This is very common. The key test is if they are loose or not which they may not be yet. My drivers side outer tie rod started to do this but was not very loose. I replaced them both anyway just to be done with it and the noise of course immediately went away.

Any mechanic who has ever worked on a Windstar should be able to phone in this diagnosis. Not sure why your having such trouble with it.
