What should my next guitar be?
I currently have a Fender Stratocaster Affinity Series. I have a Line 6 Spider IV 75W with a FBV Shortboard MkII. My genres I would most likely play would be: Alternative, rock, punk, emo, metal, pop, blues, etc... I am still sort of new but it is not like I am not buying this right away. I have played for about 6 months and really have come along. [I skipped all theory becuase I played piano for over 11 years] But I want a great guitar that would be good for jamming with friends and some gigging
Thanks a lot for your help!!!
Hello there,
If you thought the Squier Affinity Strat was comfortable to play, consider getting an upgrade Strat, such as the Fender Standard Stratocaster MIM. If you do not use the whammy bar and do not need a tremolo bridge, then perhaps a switch to the Fender Standard Telecaster MIM would be a good choice. Also if you do not need a tremolo bridge, consider the Fender 72 Telecaster Deluxe reissue. It has 2 wide range humbucking pickups that are good for several styles of music.
If do did not find the Strat comfortable to play, then consider switching to the Les Paul. The Les Paul does not normally have a tremolo bridge. The Epiphone Les Paul Standard is a very good guitar and has quite a different feel from the Strat.
Either way, you really should test out these guitars in order to select your next guitar. You, as an experienced guitarist, are the one who can decide which is most comfortable for you to play and which has the extact tone you want.
