The History Of The Bridal Gater Toss
Tossing the bridal garter is a fun tradition that takes place at weddings around the country.But you may be surprised how this unusual tradition got its start.
Bridal garter tossing started with the "Flinging of the Stocking".This tradition,first begun in the 14th and 15th centuries,sprouted from the idea that it was good luck to get a piece of clothing worn by the bride on her wedding day.Originally, members of the bridal party would invade the bride and groom's room and search for their left stockings.Each woman would take turns throwing the groom's stocking over her left shoulder;the one who hit the groom in the face would have good luck and be married within the year.The groomsmen would take turns doing the same with the bride's stocking.
This tradition moved from the bride and groom's room to the actual wedding ceremony.As soon as the ceremony ended,men would rush to the front of the church and fight over the bridal garter - many men even tried to remove it themselves!During the stampede for the garter,the bride's dress would be ripped and the bride would be stepped on.After a man snatched the bridal garter, he would wear it on his hat until he found a woman to whom he could give the garter.Needless to say, neither the bride nor the groom was thrilled about this tradition.Grooms began tossing bridal garters into the crowds to save their new wives from men running to the altar.
Today,the garter toss tradition is much different.If the couple decides to take part in the bridal garter toss,they will do it during the wedding reception.The groom will remove the bride's garter and toss it over his shoulder to a group of unmarried men.The man who catches the bridal garter puts it on the leg of the unmarried woman who caught the bride's bouquet.It is commonly believed that these two people will the next people at the reception to tie the knot with their respective significant others.
One tradition that persists unchanged to today is the use of a blue bridal garter.Blue garters are thought to represent fidelity,love and good fortune.Brides who wear this color on their wedding day are thought to receive good luck in their new marriages.
Many brides like to put their own spin on the garter tradition.One of the best ways to make the garter toss more personal is to invest in a garter set, instead of just one garter.The garter set allows brides to give away one bridal garter during the reception,and still keep one as a family heirloom.Bridal garters are one of the best "something borrowed" items a bride can have.It is thought that when a woman who has a happy marriage lends an item to a bride, she is giving the new bride a little marital bliss with the item.

what are good cards to add to my Magic the Gathering decks?
Today, I bought a random-two deck set at Target. It was 9.99 and it had two decks and I thought why not? The decks I got are "Stampede of Beasts" and "The Adventurers" decks. The first one is focused on building mana, summoning strong creatures while the second deck focused on Ally cards, but it had only forty cards.
I read the little pamphlets that give you suggestions for the decks to improve them but I'd prefer a players choice over a peice of paper (if the info is creditable from an expert, then yeah I'll listen).
Both decks use Red and Green cards. Got any ideas?
Green/ Mana ramp decks the cards you will want are Gaea's Revenge. Prime Titan, any of the Hydra creatures currently in print. Garruk, Primal Hunter for a planes walker, but I would do more than two of him. Birds of paradise is always good in a green deck.Dungrove hunter, and an overwhelming stampede for you killing spell.
An ally deck is generally best black and white. So Bala Ged Thief, Occultist, Talus Paladin, Kabira Eveangel,and Kazunda Blademaster.
Good cards for other colors are Umzaras Raptor, for blue, Kazuul Warlord for red,Turntumber ranger and Oran rief survivalist for green.
A card that goes good with all ally decks is Mimic Vat.
