Advantages of AC Servo Drives
Motors are an inseparable part of the commercial sector and industries. It is a well known fact that motors consume huge amounts of energy and burns almost thirty to forty percent of the fossil fuel generated per year. In order to conquer this disadvantage of motors and make them more energy efficient, powerful servo drives are used.
Servo drives are amplifiers that transmit the received signals into electric current and passes on to the servo motor. The main function of the servo drive is to produce torque or motion that is very close to the signals received. This prevents wastage of excessive energy in producing movement. AC Servo drives use certain analogue apparatus that remain included in the control loop of the motor. This reduces energy consumption while ensuring maximum performance. The principal behind the operation of AC servo drives is that they vary the frequency of the AC voltage received by the motor with the use of electronic devices. This allows precise speed control and improves process control to a large extent. As the servo drive reduces the operating speed of a motor, the amount of energy required for a motor to run is reduced considerably. The solid state electronic devices are capable of taking in signal inputs and improve process control.
The other advantage of using AC servo drives is that it lowers the cost of system maintenance. This is possible because the servo drive does not allow continuous on and off cycling of motors that usually is the main reason behind the wear and tear of the belt and other parts of the motor. When throttling a material, the variable frequency drive produced by the servo drive, eliminates torque pulsation and the net amount of in–rush voltage. This reduces the degree of damage to the belts, sheaves and to the couplings, which would otherwise leverage higher costs of maintenance. The AC Servo drive acts as a stabilizer and reduces the amount of in rush power when the motor gets started. This reduces the overall maintenance cost of the system.
Finally, these servo drives offer the opportunity to control multiple motors at the same time. This imparts a smaller physical size to the motor and also reduces the initial cost of setting the AC servo motor. Moreover the application of AC servo drives in a motor allows the use of a bypass starter. This allows a back up control in case of critical motor applications and also shortens the repair time of the system.

how do i set up my throttle and brake servo on my hyper 7?
First take off the throttle and brake linkages, then set your servo arms to neutral position, including the trim settings on the remote. Fit back on the linkages maikng sure for the throttle, the carb is closed (look through the air intake) and the engine idles consistently.
For the brakes, set it so at neutral the chassis rolls without resistance. Then brake on the remote and make sure the brake callipers on the car are biting strongly. Your brake setting can be adjusted with the two screws either side of the brake calliper.
