What’s in a Servo?
Knowing how to repair servo motor like Yaskawa, repair Fanuc or any other brand of servo in the USA proves to be an advantage but it’s not easy. You must first know the nitty-gritty of a servo drive such as Parker as it serves the backbone of a servo motor, and how to perform a servo drive repair in case one breaks down.
Knowledge in servo motors is not a trivial matter but the basic if you plan to start a business that concerns repair of modification of servo motors and drives. Stepper motors and servo motors have some similarities but many differences, too. Troubleshooting these two staples of industrial machinery is not that complex if you already have basic understanding of electricity and the skill in using a multi-meter. Familiarizing yourself with motors, how they are operated and ability to identify each design is an added advantage in this field of work.
Ensuring proper lockout, tag-out and verification that the machine is energy-free should be done before troubleshooting industrial equipment. The individual doing the project should be held responsible in ensuring his own safety and the safety of those that are in the area of the machinery.
We need to remember that the motor is just one part of a motion control system. Once you have verified that the rest of the system is functioning normally, you can then proceed with determining whether the motor failed using a few simple tests. These tests can be performed using a standard multi-meter or a Megohmmeter.
First disconnect and label the motor cable at the motor junction box. You can check each wire on the motor for continuity to the ground using a standard ohmmeter. Each wire should have an infinite reading or at least 100,000 ohms at a minimum, anything that goes below that reading or a direct short to ground is also equivalent to a failed winding. Make sure you have a good clean connection on both the motor wire and ground lug or motor case. Repeat this test using a megohmmeter to attain an accurate reading.
Motors that contain brushes can be visually checked and the commutators should be cleaned as regularly as possible. As for the brush dust on your motor, you can carefully get rid of this using compressed air. This may even help alleviate a resistance reading to the ground during the short test.
As a conclusion, the basics of servo motors and stepper motors are more the same as the standard motors. Testing is also similar yet the name servo or stepper can sometimes intimidate even a seasoned electrician or maintenance technician.

Hello, I need i bit of legal advice.?
Right i brought a green laser pointer from someone called surepromise on ebay.
His advert clearly states that the laser is 240mw in power
the laser has a sticker on stateing 240mw.
but the laser sent is only around 5-8mw in power.
now this is fraud is it not.
I have been lied to his advert is false.
the laser cost £20
when i looked on proper laser sites the same lasers sell for around £300-400.
firstly i thought bargin silly me but never the less ho has commited a crime ( fraud ) .
so where do i stand
can i sue for what was advertised or rather he has to give me £400 so i can get one.
i need a 240mw power for an art project with mirrors and servos on special paper.
so can someone tell me where i stand please

In English law under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (amended 1996) goods must match the description which is given to them. If a private seller s14 of the Sale of Goods Act (relating to “Quality and fitness for purpose” is excluded and “caveat emptor” or “buyer beware” arises.
The seller, whether private or merchant, has breached the Sale of Goods Act in S13 “Description”. This in an implied term of a contract and means that goods should match any description given to them. E.g. 20 red apples must be:
1. Apples
2. Red
3 . 20 in number
If they are green apples and there is 18 of them I have breached s13 of the Sale of Goods Act - it’s as simply as that. The fact you thought you were getting a “good bargain” on Ebay at a cheaper price will not prevent a breach by the seller. After all that’s why millions of people search Ebay for in the first place isn’t it?
So, what remedies are available to catch the scoundrel and obtain justice? If you paid for the item with Paypal I believe they have an insurance scheme for amounts above a certain level - check with them. If you did not make a payment via Paypal or do not come within the terms and conditions you can complain the Ebay. However, even if they do find this person and ban them this does not help you recover your money. Furthermore, when I have had problems with Ebay I have found them simply pathetic - I told them so too!
Legally you can commence an action in the County Court for small claims. Actions in a Civil dispute are compensatory therefore you can only obtain what you lost so you cannot obtain £400 from the seller to get yourself another laser! This would be in effect profiting from your litigation.
The courts would not throw your case out of court for £20.00 - this is nonsense. Judges have been known to throw out cases for what are known as “nominal damages” where someone sues another for literally pennies and the courts realise its just to mess someone around. In your case you have a legitimate claim. You bought goods in good faith and they were not what was advertised.
However, before you sue you must consider is the person worth pursuing? You may be forking out as much as £50-£80 in court fees to recover just £20.00 (plus any damages you incurred) and is it worth it?
You need to know the person’s correct name - if they are a fraud have you got the real one? Have they used a correct address? There are a lot of frauds operating on Ebay and many people use PO box numbers and other elaborate methods for fooling their victims.
