can i mix match a thin road tire at front with thicker tire at rear wheel on my road bike?

i am experimenting putting a thin 700c 23 as front tire and match my rear 700c 1 1/4 tire on my old fuji road bike , can i do that , it is dangerous. it seems i can ride faster than this way, faster than riding the same size of tire . anyone try this before , what is your opion, or suggestions.

You must be aware that the 23mm tire works well at about 110 to 140 psi cepending on the tire and wheel, where as a 1 1/4 probably about 85 psi. This will cause a serious handling issue. do yourself a favor and stick with same size
