With gas costs as large as they tend to be, no expect anything resembling the pricing from the good old times, most of us making the effort to extend our gas mileage. You may well be desiring a super high proficiency motor vehicle like a Prius, or a odd alternative like a Tahoe hybrid, but with a limited budget you're bound to the vehicle you have. The great news is a lot of cars and trucks can see an improvement to their miles with a few simple maintenance procedures. THE two-minute job as simple as looking at the tire pressure could add a few MPGs to your next tank full. You can also generate enhancements by replacing your spark plugs and spark plug wiring. A smooth working motor is definitely an efficient motor!
A Shock or Strut regulates movement when a motor vehicle is driven into a turn or over bumps. These units are comprised of shock oil, dampening valves, a piston, main seal, main body with mounting bushing and an activation shaft with mounting bushing. Whenever shocks or struts have issues it is normal in one of two ways, either the internal dampening valve fails or the primary shaft seal fails enabling the shock oil to leak out. A shock absorber is usually installed to a suspension component at 1 ending and the frame of the car on the other. Numerous suspension features are in action when the motor vehicle is driving such as the shocks and struts the ball joints, lower control arm, bushings, sway bar links and more. In case a rattling or thumping sound exists when driving isolate the sounds from front to rear, this will likely assist in the diagnoses. If the location of the noise is tough to diagnose have a helper ride along in the back seat of the car and assess ideas.
Checking Front or Rear Strut Failure: Struts are made with hydraulic dampening valves which could fail creating a clicking or popping noise. In the event strut oil is leaking the shaft seal has failed and will create a rattle or clicking sound. To test for this condition disassemble strut assembly and search for excessive strut motion, if the strut is easily moved (low resistance) replacement is necessary. A spring compressor is essential for disassembly.

Can anyone tell me how you lower the rear of a mk1 clio please. I know it has torsion bars but have read the trailing arm needs to be moved 2 splines for every 5mm, how do you move the trailing arm and how do the torsion bars compress to the new lower height? Ive read i will need a slide hammer?
