if i plug an external dvd drive into acer revo aspire nettop, will I be able to buy and play games (eg sims 3!?

i am not to clued up on computers but have just ordered this and realised there is no cd / dvd drive. any advise most welcome!

Yes, but make sure you don't disconnect it while in use. this could cause something to lockup or even give you the blue screen of death.
