By keeping aside the debate on the best type of LCD mount, price, and material used, here we are discussing how to install the ceiling mounts rightly. Finally, work through the LCD TV setup and menu systems to check the viewing angle according to your sitting position in the room.

Appropriate steel pipe size?
I want to span 50" with a steel pipe to attach a mount for a flat panel TV to allow it to rotate up. The total weight to be supported will likely only be around 100 lbs.
I assumed 3/4" steel pipe would suffice...what specific type should I ask for at the metal supply store?
I was thinking steel since I was going to use a 4bolt flange bearing to support the pipe on either end, and know that galvanized and black pipes are "rough/irregular". I havent bought the flanges yet.
sorry...the pipe will be supported horizontally...so deflection of the pipe is what i am trying to avoid.
schedule 40 black iron pipe. 3/4" should be fine for the weight.
