Useful watch making tools – broaches, cannon pinion and escapement tools
The assorted 12 piece Broach set has broaches of different sizes used to enlarge holes from .7 mm to 4.5 mm. The Bergeon 1896-H pivot smoothing 12 piece broaching set has Swiss made broaches with diameters varying from .05 mm to .3 mm. They are used for smoothing operations. The Bergeon 2676-B broaching holder is a good tool to hold watch hands. The Bergeon 30544-A-P cutting broaches with PVC handles has knurled handles made of PVC for long lasting effect and the broach diameter varies from .69 mm to 3.53 mm. With the Bergeon 2229-03 escapement tester, it is possible to adjust the length of pallets stones with a high degree of precision. This apparatus has many more important features some of which are - Pallets are gripped by a spring lever and the lifting adjustment is done using a knurled knob. The support plate for pallets is made of stainless steel and the plate also has two centrings to adapt the diameter of the pallet staff.
The Bergeon 3040 is an electric heater with fixed temperature operating feature for escapement fitters and escapement testers. It is available in two voltage options - both in 110 Volts and 220 Volts. With the Bergeon 30460-VAR model electric heater, watch makers get a tool with adjustable temperature settings for escapement fitters and testers. It is available in 110 Volts and 220 Volts also. This tool can be used for adjusting pallet stones, preparing gaskets for fitting of mineral glasses, as a dryer etc. It comes with a plastic insulating frame and has a smooth working surface made from aluminium. Ambient temperature for this tool is up to 160 degrees. The temperature can be adjusted by making use of a potentiometer.

What is the difference between a 3:55 ratio and a 3:73 ratio ring & pinion set?
My jeep grand cherokee zj 96 limited needs a change of rear gear ring and pinion set, and I want to know what is a better gear ratio to use. I use the jeep 80% on pavement and 20 percent off-road (gravelly and muddy) sometimes with towing load.
You are supposed to have stronger torque with a higher ratio, so 3:73 should theoretically give you more pulling power, but practically speaking the difference can barely be felt.
Word of advice, if you are not changing tire diameter size significantly and your front differential is still okay, don't use a ratio different from your front.
