Is 500 watts the max output, or if i provide more voltage/amps is there higher output? Or would the controller?
If a motor says 24v 500 watt output. Is 500 watts the max output, or if i provide more voltage/amps is there higher output? Or would the controller stop an exceed of 500 watts? Also are axial hub motors AC or DC? Would an axial hub motor be strong enough to move a go-cart? How much hp couold an axial hub motor have?

Well i was thinking of building the motor out of neodymium magnets.
You could increase the voltage to something above 24 volts, which would increase the power above 500 watts, but at the risk of burning out the motor. If you keep the duty cycle low, you may be able to do this.
What controller? If you have a controller hooked to the motor, you didn't mention it. It depends on the design of the controller.

Building your own motor? No chance. You would need a top grade machine shop, a top grade winding shop, access to special parts such as bearings, many years experience, a lot os special equipment, and even with all of that, it would cost you ten times what it would cost to buy one, and the odds are good that it won't work anyway.
