2005 Mountaineer whining noise?

I just bought a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer. I have noticed it makes a whining noise whenever I push on the gas. As soon as I let off the gas the noise stops. It sounds like it is coming from the rear of the car and I noticed today their was some sort of fluid on the ground near the rear end, not sure what it was coming from though. Anyone have any idea on what would cause this? I have a warranty but not sure what it is to know if it is covered if I take it in.

Thatgirl,

Since you just purchased this vehicle you would definitely want to make sure everything is functioning correctly. Bringing it to the dealer helps ensure that your concern is properly diagnosed as well as corrected. If it's covered under the warranty you should have no problems having them correct the issue. However, if there is no coverage under applicable warranties, recalls, or ESPs, repairs and services would be your responsibility. I hope this is resolved very quickly so that you can return to driving your Mountaineer with confidence.
