I've a debate with my friend regarding if the car publishing companies actually sell a license to allow game publishers use their brands (as in,use an Lamborghini car in a racing game) or do they actually pay the game companies to have advertisement for themselves.
Game developers pay car companies to use their cars. That's why Gran Turismo, PGR, etc. can't give cars any dents because the car manufacturers said no dents.
It's also why you don't see certain cars in games. The developers couldn't get the car maker's permission.
