Automotive gaskets are used as fillers to close the gap between two parts so as to ensure there is no leakage between them during stage of compression like a mechanical seal. Gaskets are manufactured with range of materials such as plastic polymer, gasket paper, fiberglass, rubber, silicone, metal, felt and cork. Both low and high compressive loads can be handled by Gaskets. These gaskets have various designs, specifications and shapes. Gaskets used commonly include solid material, sheet, double jacketed and spiral wound.
Differential gaskets are specially intended to avoid dirt and grime entering the axle tube creating damage to the essential components of automobile transmission. Gaskets are flexible and are fixed on the axle used during transmission. These gaskets also holds gear oil inside and throws remaining impurities outside. Axle seal is an important type of differential gaskets.
Cooling system gaskets are made for fixing together or sealing the matched components and joints of pipe so that there is no leakage in the gas or liquid. For producing automobile cooling system gaskets soft sheet metals are used. Other materials which can be used for making gaskets are stainless steel, bullet steel, silicon, graphite, polymeric resins, neoprene, copper, fibre-based composites and nitriles. Gaskets installed in automobiles ensure that the gases or fluids are not leaking. Cooling system gaskets are a great barrier among the block and cylinder head of any engine.
Engine gaskets are vital types of gaskets which ensure that fluids, oil, coolant and air of an internal combustion engine do not leak out from internal and external passages. These gaskets seal the cylinders tightly for maximum compression to take place in engine cylinder. Head gaskets are the most significant automotive gaskets used in the automobile engine system which absorbs all the heat and compression formed by the vehicle's engine.
Fuel supply gaskets are typically used to obstruct the fluid leakage to maintain the suitable pressure in an engine area. These gaskets act as sturdy seal between static surfaces. Gaskets contain a flexible material, kept between the fuel pump-mounting surface and fuel pump spacer block to verify oil leakage.
Transmission gaskets contain flexible material normally like a sheet or ring used to make a pressure tight connection in the automobile transmission components. These gaskets have two types, internal and external. Internal gaskets are installed to impede the leakage in servos, accumulators and clutch packs in vehicles and external gaskets stop the fluid leakage occurring outside the trans axle case.
