Depends on the type of differential.
Some are behind the inner pinion bearing and some with a bolt on pinion housing are shimmed a the bolts.
This is a highly specialized rebuild and many techs don't get it right.
If you haven't done this before, I would pay a tech to install any bearings or gears.
That way you will get a proper job and little warranty.
