Jets pointed down work for the Harrier, Helicopters fly by rotary wing. Airships are older that aircraft. Aerodynamic lift is nothing but Drag focused on the upper wing. And Airships have plenty of drag. And less need for lift.

Blending of compatible technologies are the way. Wheels provide speeds on level terrain, articulated limbs give the capability to handle uneven obstacles. But going for a rock climb wearing roller skates will not help you climb faster. Not all technologies are mutually compatible.

Edit: Lift and drag are different entities and usually occur mutually perpendicular. Lift needs relative motion and relative motion creates drag. So if there is lift, then there is drag and these will never be in the same direction.
