Strictly speaking, there are few components in the heating systemthe heater core, the tubes that link it to the engine's cooling system and an electric blower (fan) that attracts air into the heater case and blows it through the heater core.

The heater core is positioned under the dash, inside a large (usually plastic) assembly known as the heater
case (or heater box). On vehicles with an integrated air conditioning and heating system, this assemblage is generally referred to as a heater/evaporator case due to the fact the evaporator and the heater are each situated in it. Tubes provide engine coolant to the heater core and transport it back to the engine. If the heating unit is equipped with a control valve, it's positioned in-line in the heater hose. Assume of the heater core as a modest radiator.Like the radiator, the heater core is also a heat exchanger
which sheds the engine heat transported by the coolant. It achieves this activity by running the
heat through the tubing walls and into thousands of little cooling fins. So, like the radiator, the heater core actually helps to cool the motor. Although instead of radiating the heat into the outside gir, the heater core radiates i l into the air inside the heater box, which is blown by an electrical fan into the Passenger compartment. That's all there is to it. We will look at the heating system in more depth in an additional post.

Common forms of air conditioning systems
There are two fundamental kinds of vehicle air conditioning systems.In a usual vehicle air conditioning system, high-pressure liquid refrigerant in the condenser is released into the evaporator, via a device, which lowers the refrigerant pressure. The type of device utilized to decrease the refrigerant pressure provides us the basic difference around the type of air conditioning system; the device used may be either an expansion valve, or an orifice tube. Let's take a quick look at the two types of systems in more detail.

The five simple components used in this type of system are:
I ) Compressor (driven by the engine)
2) Condenser (located at the front of the vehicle, in front of the radiator)
3) Receiverldrier (found in the engine compartment)
4) Expansion valve (usually connected to the evaporator)
5) Evaporator (found inside a housing in the dash, with the heater core)
Let's follow the refrigerant as it flows through this type of system
The compressor compresses the refrigerant from a low-pressure vapor to a high-pressure vapor. The high-pressure vapor is pumped into the condenser, where it is condensed by the cooling airflow to a high-pressure
liquid. The high-pressure liquid is pumped to the receiverldrier (sometimes called to as a filteddrier), where it is cleaned and all moisture is removed.
The clean, dry high-pressure liquid is pumped to the expansion valve, where it is changed to a low-pressure blend of liquid and vapor. The low-pressure refrigerant mixture is next pumped to the evaporator, where the remaining liquid is converted back to a low-pressure vapor, cooling the air
passing over the evaporator as it does so. From the evaporator, the lowpressure vapor passes back to the compressor, which pumps it through the system again.

Let's trace the flow of the refrigerant through this type of system.The compressor compresses the refrigerant from a low-pressure vapor to a high-pressure vapor. The high-pressure vapor is pumped into
the condenser, where it is condensed by the cooling airflow to a high-pressure liquid. The high-pressure liquid is pumped to the orifice tube, where the flow is restricted, changing the refrigerant to a low-pressure liquid. The lowpressure liquid is then pumped to the evaporator, where the liquid is mostly
changed to a vapor, cooling the air passing over the evaporator as it does so. From the evaporator, the low-pressure mixture of liquid and vapor is pumped to the accumulator, where the remaining liquid is boiled back to vapor.
The pure low-pressure vapor passes back to the compressor, which
pumps it through the system again.

Air conditioning components
There are five basic components in every automotive air conditioning system:
1) Compressor
2) Condenser
3) Accumulator or receiver-dryer
4) Expansion valve or orifice tube
5) Evaporator
No air conditioning system can operate without all five components. A lot of additional components, whose function is to control and increase the efficiency of specific systems, are also applied in all systems.

Why does my engine over heat when the truck is sitting still?

I just replaced the radiator and it seemed to have fixed the problem but it seems to over heat now when I happen to leave the engine on and sitting can anyone tell me why or how to fix it?

did you replace your thermostat? cause it could be sticking and not allowing your coolant to circulate. also, are your fan/fans working?
