Car Tuning: Uprating Your Brakes
The other side of making your car go is of course, making it stop. The car brakes are very crucial parts of the car and it should always be properly maintained and even upgraded, especially if you have made modifications or upgrades to your car engine. A strong and efficient braking system is an integral aspect of car tuning, and could spell the difference in road safety and responsible driving. There are different components in the braking system of cars which you can improve and upgrade for better performance on the road.
When you apply the brakes in a moving car, the movement is effectively turned into heat. It is worthy to know how this operation takes place and where the converted heat goes in the system. When applying the brakes, the brake pedal activates a servo mechanism which pushes the brake fluid in the brake system and pressurizes the fluid to push the brake pads in contact with the disk brakes of the car. It has a similar system as the bicycle brake although the car's braking system is larger in scale. Car tuning covers the entire braking system from the pedal to the disk brakes.
The braking system relies on the brake fluid, which is considered the heart and soul of the same. The system is endangered when there is air or water intrusion in the fluid throughout its components. When this happens the least that can happen is you experience heaviness in applying the brakes and the worst thing that can happen is a full blown brake failure which can have disastrous and even fatal results. Car tuning recommendations from the experts and professionals include thorough inspection and brake fluid changing at least yearly. Tests are taken in order to ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the brake fluid.
Careful attention must be given to the brake pads and the brake dust it generates when the brakes are applied, as these pads are manufactured from high grade materials, including asbestos, which can stand extreme temperatures. Brake pads used in extreme sports, like in car racing, take some time to warm up before getting into optimum adherence and maximum performance. The ordinary brake pads meanwhile, perform adequately well, but have certain limitations during heavy use and extremely high temperatures. In proper car tuning, you should be able to decide the correct type of brake pads for your motoring needs.
The braking disks are responsible in reducing the heat from braking. Larger disks have bigger surface areas and therefore have greater capacities in heat reduction. There are the more modern brake disks that are designed with grooves which prevent the build up of gas, those with drilled surfaces which help dissipate heat much faster, and disks that are vented which provide a double contact surface area for more efficient braking.

Yea you should be able to. The cost depends on your bike. Some bikes are set up so that it is easy to put disks on, if you have that it will cost you from $250 - $400 if you don't have that it will cost you about $300 plus. it all depend on the quality or the stuff that you buy.
