Catamaran Hull

What Sail Boat is a Delight to Sail ? A Catamaran
One of the many advantages of the catamaran sail boat is its double hull. This hull makes it lighter and, therefore, faster. The catamaran is an all together snappy boat due to its stability, lightness, speed and power.
Even though the catamarans current shape or design owes much to the South Pacific the boat's name originates in India, from the name of the Tamil words kattu (to tie) and maram (wood or tree). It is a boat with an ancient lineage. The Polynesians used the catamaran sail boat to settle far off islands. The English remarked upon the boat and its usage, but it was not manufactured as a viable craft until centuries later.
Since then, Europeans, Australians and Americans have adopted and adapted the catamaran sail boat to produce what is now considered one of the fastest growing segments of the sail boating industry.
The reasons for this growing popularity of the catamaran sail boat lies, mainly, with its multi-hull. The wider beam provides the boat with a stability sometimes lacking in mono-hulls. This means the sail is more likely to stay upright in a gust of wind. As a result, another benefit is that the catamaran sail boat draws more power from the wind than a mono-hull while avoiding heeling (leaning) over.
The catamaran sail boat lacks a keel counterweight. With out it, a catamaran is lighter. It does not lose out in its performance on the water, particularly in moderate or light wind conditions. The catamaran creates a distinct snappy action motion when its hull slaps up and down on the waves.
In the proper conditions, the catamaran sail boat has a higher than average speed. This is especially true in coastal waters. Here, where the beaches and bays provide shelter, conditions produce the right type of waves for maximum speed for this multi-hulled craft.
Beside speed, the catamaran sail boat has practical advantages. The catamaran sail boat can be easily beached because of the sail boat's shoal draft. You can moor it in a shallow harbor or at low tide easily stash the boat ashore for maintenance. Yet, the catamaran sail boat can also be put on a trailer for portage or relocation. It may, however, because of its size have to be canted to remove any possible transportation violations or problems.
Overall, the catamaran sail boat is good for long distance cruising as well as for day sailors. Its variance in size provides a wide variety of choice within a consistent offering of speed, stability and comfort. A perfect delight to sail under ideal conditions is the catamaran sail boat.

Can a conventional catamaran achieve speed in excess of 60 mph?
Would lighter than air gas compressed and ensconced in bows tend to produce positive bouyancy thereby resisting submarining?
Would such a positive bouyancy advantage increase speed of catamaran as opposed to stock catamaran provided all else being equal?
Why do sail manufacturers use a mast? And would a superior mastless foil generate faster hull speeds?
And, should not a catamaran have flexible struts connecting the hull because a certain amount of flex would enable the hulls to remain in the water longer?
Could a tornado be used as platform to use experimental foil configuration superior to anything that exists today?
Yes, a conventional catamaran can achieve hull speed in excess of 60 mph provided it is tweaked. Overall, there would be a hull speed increase, nominal, by increasing the positive buoyancy of the bows and removing the rigidity of the struts would also increase hull speed.
But the real factor would be the foil. A mast-less foil is innovative and superior to a mast. What is a mast: A dead stick stuck up in the air to hang some animal hide or canvas upon, PRIMITIVE by any standard.
So the foil would be the key to generate speed in excess of 60mph, and instead of a Tornado perhaps a C-Class would be a better platform?
