Looking for fan speed control circuit?
I need a simple circuit to control a brushless fan at about 12v 1.5 amps. The input voltage range would be 4.5V to 12.5V. Output needs to be from 7V to about 12.5V. The input voltage is not enough amps to run the fan. So I need some type of circuit that can supply enough amps. I thought about an LM317 but requires I higher input. Basicly the controller I do have does not supply enough amps. Even to replace the 2SB772 PNP Transistor with a higher amp one would work.
Maybe I was not clear. The fan needs to be variable. From a variable source. The source does not have neough amps to power the fan. So I need something to "Boost" the amps. A manual control is out of the question.
A voltage regulator will not cut it. It needs a chopper thyristor circuit. The easiest thing is to get a dimmer from any hardware store.

If it is brushless it is an AC fan, and you cannot control it by applying DC voltage. You need to change the AC voltage by chopping the sine wave.
Check the fan specs again, and see if it says AC or DC.
