Can silver alloys be created with different colors?
There are different color gold alloys (white, yellow, red, pink, purple, green and blue). This comes from mixing gold with different quantities of platinum, copper, silver, aluminum, iron and maybe even bismuth. This alloys are these colors all the way through. Can this be done with silver alloys?
The simple answer to your question is yes however it has to be qualified. The international standard for silver is 925 parts silver in 1000 parts. As a result the available proportion other metals in the alloy is not very great, and in most cases not enough to give the resulting alloy anything but an "off colour" look and not a proper tint. There are lower purities of silver available but these are not very popular with the public, most people preferring the "Sterling" standard. With gold, the alloys start at much lower purities such as 375 parts per 1000 and so the colours are far more distinct.
