CNC or Computer Numerical Control Machining is the use of completely automated machining functions to quicken and make industrial processes far more efficient.
In our CNC machining division we handle a variety of different services. We specialize in providing precision-machined parts in castings, forging and bar work. Along with our CNC turning and CNC milling functions, we also have secondary operations and in-house engineering and tooling.
The main purpose of CNC or Computer Numerical Control Machining is to produce 3-D structures with the help of a many computer controlled commands. How much would a large bar of high quality Titanium cost?
I want to know how much a solid bar of high quality unalloyed (ASTM grades 1-4) Titanium ~ 65"x4"x5" would cost?
Also if anyone knows how much it would be to have that piece cnc'd extensively? CnC would include a pipe with honeycombed center?
The titanium spot price http://www.metalprices.com/FreeSite/metals/ti/ti.asp is about $20/pound. Your piece is 1300 cubic inches The specific gravity is 4.54 and water is 62.4 pounds per cubic foot of 1728 cu.in so 4.54 * 62.4 * 1300 / 1728 or 213+pounds and at $20/pound so $4,262.56
I have difficulty believing that a CNC machine could work lengthwise through 65" of titanium, which is very tough which is implied by your use of the word "pipe" and I suspect it would have to be extruded or cast.
Perhaps it could be made of a bundle of smaller pipes with a fabricated manifold on each end.
