- Two (2) good size nails, perhaps 2p.
- Grab a tennis ball.
- Get eight mouse traps.
- Get eight close pins (the regular kind)
- Lots of string
- Eight long straws (Sonic large straws)
- Some play-do
- An empty box (say about 15-18" cubed)
- Take the Empty box and rip off one side, you should be left with 5 sides.
- Tie a string around the nail with a good solid knot.
- Puncture the tennis ball and slip the nail with knot side in, and pull the remaining string taught.
- Cut the string to about 6-9".
- Puncture a hole in the top of the box at about 3-5" from the ripped off side.
- Slip the remaining string with tennis ball attached through the newly punctured hole in the box and make a good size knot with the other nail. Now the tennis ball is hanging from the top of the box.
- Next, rig some mouse traps with the same approach by using string and holes in the top and sides of the box. You should have some hanging mouse traps around the hanging tennis ball. This process will take three (3) strings a piece to animate the mouse trap in suspended air. [Using the three strings will keep the mouse trap up in the air, trust me, it works]. Make sure you allow for the close pins strike distance.
- Clip on the close pins to each activated mouse trap, keyword being "Activated". Careful, Careful. Careful.
- Ball up some play-do (a good handful)
- Take eight straws and insert them into the play-do strategically to the point that as each straw nears the activation mechanism of the mouse trap all mouse traps will snap at the same time. The play-do ball will have all eight straws inserted into it but the straws will be pushed away from each other at the tips. Hopefully this makes sense.
- Now activate your mouse traps by using the play-do with straws assembly and each mouse trap should snap at the same time to create the illusion that you have detonated the close pins action to striking the tennis ball.
