Petroleum by-products dissolve the layers combining the grime and the threads. They are used as a pre-treatment for the dry cleaning of the carpet.
These emulsifiers, being chemically very strong, need to be kept for only 15-20 minutes, after which they have to be scrubbed off properly. The machinery in this system passes over the carpet several times to completely wash out the left over particles and the compound.
Final touch
A common practice is to keep carpets clean and attended at all times. You should take care shoes or hard substances do not come in contact with your expensive carpets and that they are brushed and shampooed regularly.
